Marks and Spencers
Back in 2014, just like magic, a new Twitter account appeared called @TheTwoFairies…
They promised magic and it didn’t take long for people to start noticing two fairies everywhere they went and the hashtag #FollowTheFairies.
Surprises and gifts then began appearing at people’s houses. But where from?
It was all part of Marks & Spencers’ Magic & Sparkle campaign, which continued to grow and grow on social media. What a fantastic way to improve brand loyalty!
Over the years McDonalds have hosted a number of Christmas social media campaigns.
One that stands out in particular is when they invited users to create a virtual stocking which saw people select a top and lower trim for the stocking, a pattern and greetings. Those creations were then shared on the official McDonalds Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Despite not giving away or promoting their food, this scheme from McDonalds created a massive buzz around the business and got everyone talking about them.
Starbucks are renowned for their festive campaigns which started all the way back in 1997 with their Christmas decorated cups.
Their most successful scheme came when they launched their Red Cup Art campaign.
They asked their followers to use their red Christmas cups to create festive art projects and share them online via social media. By using the hashtag #redcupart and by tagging Starbucks they entered a prize draw to win an exclusive Starbucks card worth a years free coffee!
That campaign helped grow Starbuck’s Instagram following to more than 12 million users!
GBK – Gourmet Burgers Kitchen
Another great way to promote your business at Christmas is by giving stuff away.
GBK gave out a free “bah humburger” jumper to the first 50 customers who ordered their new special!
Not only did that campaign sell 50 specials but it also saw 50 people walking around with the GBK logo on their jumper! Clever, right!?
American multinational technology company Cisco launched an extremely unique social media campaign back in 2013.
For every comment they received on their Facebook page they donated four meals to the World Food Programme.
